ABSTRACT

Alternate :It analyzes the vision and proposals of members of family units in rural and urban Spain on how to educate and evaluate schools during the lockdown caused by the COVID-19 global health crisis. ABSTRACT

As a result of the confinement provoked by the COVID-19 pandemic, educational institutions around the world employed various remote strategies to continue with the students' educational process;however, given the long period of confinement, various affectations emerged, mainly related to emotional, physical health, social, academic, and technical issues. The objective of this research was to determine the main effects that students at a university campus in Mexico had while studying in the distance mode during the confinement, as well as to identify if there is a difference between the effects found among the students of the different disciplinary areas that conform the campus. A total of 475 students were surveyed and the means of the responses were compared, showing that the main effects were emotional, physical and academic, as well as that there are significant differences in three of the six disciplinary areas investigated. It was also found that the social affectation was not significant. The findings confirm that four of the five most frequent affectations found in the literature were also present in the university students of the Campus in all their disciplinary areas, which confirms that it is essential to have holistic visions of distance learning in order to face the challenges that educational systems will face in the future. ABSTRACT

Abstract Literature has focused on the co-evolutionary understanding between technology and education, highlighting the teacher as a key player in this process. The objective of the text is to problematize the pedagogical experience of a Physical Education teacher from the state education network during the Covid-19 pandemic, under the lens of neotechnicism and emerging literacies. A qualitative methodology was adopted based on narrative studies, pedagogical cases and their contributions to teacher training. As a result, it was noticed the feeling of incompetence to deal with digital platforms, the support of a peer collaboration network, the urgency of "how to use technological tools" and, in the background, "what to teach". Finally, it is considered that thinking about remote Physical Education teaching in the pandemic is more than thinking about technology, but rather it is reflecting on how the teacher is formed by experience and the possibilities of modifying the perception of Physical Education classes in this context.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Vocational training in health faces great challenges since social distancing became one of the strategies controlling the COVID-19 pandemic. Physiotherapy education has a practical component that requires contact with patients and through which students acquire professional skills. This face-to-face learning modality has had to be replaced by new pedagogical strategies, such as attention mediated by information and communication technology (ICT), case-based teaching, clinical simulation and tele-rehabilitation, trying to maintain patient-student interaction and compliance with professional training. Method: Descriptive cross-sectional study, in 143 practice students of a physiotherapy program in the city of Cali - Colombia, which evaluates their perception after a professional training practice mediated by ICTs. Results: 82.5% of the students answered that, if it was possible to perform tele-rehabilitation during the virtual practices, considering it as useful in 36.4%. The most used virtual platforms were Google Meet and Zoom with 81.1%. More than half of the students (58%) agreed that synchronous and asynchronous virtual activities led to significant learning. Conclusion: Vocational training mediated by ICTs emerged in the face of the pandemic and reinforced this strategy as a learning tool for meeting professional training objectives and competencies, the quality is perceived as a viable strategy that implies a paradigm shift in traditional education within the training process. ABSTRACT

The present study aims to identify gender differences in the experience of positive and negative emotions, as well as in the main concerns and needs identified in relation to online learning during the first weeks of the COVID-19 confinement. The sample consisted of undergraduate students from 10 public universities in Mexico with a total of 13704 participants with an age range of 18 to 30 years. The results obtained highlight that the main difference between genders is the need for emotional stability, obtaining a significantly lower score in most of the positive affective states in women. Regarding the main problems related to online learning during the first weeks of confinement, differences were observed, especially in the fact that more women had to share computer equipment with other members of the family. Likewise, a greater experience of negative emotions and lower scores in positive emotions were shown. The results are discussed, highlighting the inequalities perceived by gender and insisting on socioemotional education as a mean to face daily demands and relate to other people in a satisfactory manner. ABSTRACT

This article aims at understanding the meaning of the professional curricular internship period experienced by physical education trainees of two regional universities located in the Maule Region, Chile, during the Covid-19 pandemic in the first semester 2020. From the methodological standpoint, the study takes an interpretive-qualitative stance, hence three focus groups were organized and six in-depth interviews were conducted totalling 34 students in the process of professional curricular internship. The group and individual interviews were carried out via Zoom due to the health authority restrictions. The results show scarce contact with the students in the educational establishments, scarce use of social networks as teaching strategies, and a negative impact on motivational levels resulting from virtual teaching. The aforementioned issues emerge from the reflective processes and self-learning of the trainees. This study suggests pondering these reflections in the initial teaching training processes taking into account the relevance of the professional curricular internship in the construction of the teaching ethos of future Physical Education teachers. ABSTRACT

This research work aims to analyze the level of technostress, causes and effects in students of the University of Guadalajara, under the context of online education, during the COVID-19 pandemic. The methodology used is quantitative, descriptive, non-experimental. The instrument used was Salanova’s «technostress» questionnaire (RED-ICT), «effects» by Jena, and «causes» by Suh and Lee, instruments with verifiable acceptable levels of reliability and validity. Survey applied virtually through Google Froms, to a sample of 221 university students. The findings show that students report having a moderate level of technostress. The dimensions that most influence this condition are: work overload, role ambiguity, and individual aspects, such as neuroticism. Regarding the effects, it was found that university students are not satisfied with the online modality;they recognize that their learning has not been entirely satisfactory. It was concluded that it is essential and necessary to propose projects and strategies to reduce this condition in students. It is suggested to take actions and allocate resources, in order to improve the satisfaction, performance and quality of education. ABSTRACT

This study aims to analyze how effective an educational robotics unit in a simulated environment is for improving primary school teachers’ understanding of basic concepts in robotics while assessing their didactic use when teaching mathematics. A descriptive and exploratory case study is developed based on a qualitative methodology. Seventeen teachers in training are assessed by using open questionnaires and learning scenarios created by the participants. The results showed that even though the teachers surveyed thought it was impossible to learn robotics concepts without a physical kit, they changed their main perceptions and managed to understand the concepts and designed activities that promote the resolution of mathematical problems. It is concluded that a simulated environment provides sufficient tools to learn basic notions of robotics without needing a physical kit, which can be used for educational purposes. © 2022

ABSTRACT

SUMMARY: Since the first Brazilian Veterinary Medicine course in 1910, many curricular changes have taken place. The pedagogical project have been centered on the student as a subject of learning and supported by the professors as a critical mediator of this process and the pandemic of COVID-19 accelerated this change. Many professors have taught video lessons to ensure continuity of teaching, research and extension, even at a distance. This paper, therefore, aims at reporting the development of animal anatomy didactic contents applied on online platforms in Portuguese language. To this, eight researches were developed addressing the teaching-learning of Morphological Sciences contents to be incorporated into distance education platforms that focused canine and feline anatomy, the study of neuroanatomy in the ovine, bovine, equine and primate species and the surgical anatomy of the locomotor apparatus of the equine specie. Thus, virtual teaching-learning platform can help, as a complementary tool to face-to-face classes, in obtaining the skills, abilities and attitudes required for the training of veterinary students in Brazil.

ABSTRACT

Alternate : This article deals with the analysis of autonomy in the foreign language teaching-learning process in the context of the social distance imposed by the Covid-19 pandemics. Such reality led the Cuban university to implement emergency changes in its system, assuming features of distance education, particularized in a distance learning format. Such is the case of Matanzas University Language School, which faculty searched for ways of improving the students’ autonomy from a developmental perspective. Meanwhile, technology, with its virtual environment, reached untold levels of preponderance. The results of teaching, the methodological activity, the interaction with the students and the continuous diagnosis update, favored the identification of theoretical positioning reflected in this work, as well as the best practices in favor of the assimilation of strategies, the cooperation and help levels offer. As a result, we share criteria about the co-direction of the process, as well as the best practices, focused on a student who becomes more and more autonomous and committed with the social assignment of his future profession.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: it is needing to design, implement and evaluate the acceptance, relevance, and usability of an online course aimed at promoting the detection and referral of suspected cases of COVID-19 from pharmacies-drugstores. Method: the design of the course was based on a proposed route for the care of users suspected of COVID-19 attending pharmacies, complemented by information obtained through a search in PubMed/Medline and on Websites of leading organizations in the field. The information was structured in an online course, a formulary was developed and applied to assess the coverage, acceptability, and relevance of the course. Results: an online course (How do we act against COVID-19 from the drugstores?) was designed and organized in 7 units and with key concepts to identify and refer suspected cases of COVID-19 from pharmacies-drugstores, available in https://udearroba.udea.edu.co/externos/my/. From April/2020 to April/2021, 863 persons were registered, 382 (44.3%) finished and were sent the formulary for evaluation the course, which was returned by 240 (62.8%). In this group, the satisfaction with the course and education materials was 95.8% and 97.1%, respectively. Also, 97.9% people assert that the course contribute to identify and to refer suspected cases of COVID-19;and 93.3% that, the navigation through the course provides easy access of the contents. Conclusions: a virtual, open, and usable course is designed, implemented, and evaluated, and although the participants state that the course promoting the detection and referral of suspected cases of COVID-19, from pharmacies- drugstores, it is needing to conduct a study to assess this question. ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION: The COVID-19 pandemic outbreak introduced dramatic changes in all our lives, daily practice, and medical conferences. In search of a tool to spread dermatologic knowledge during confinement, an online medical meeting was held on April 25th to 26th, 2020. In this study, we aimed to assess the characteristics, opinion and satisfaction of the attendees to a free-of-charge online congress. Secondarily, we intended to explain how this meeting was prepared. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Online survey administered to the attendees to an online congress organised via the Telegram® Messenger App. Its organisation and planning, which needed no financial support and was done by volunteer organisers, moderators and speakers, is described step by step. RESULTS: The satisfaction of both speakers and attendees was very high. All participants considered that this format had a great present and future, and most of them rated it as superior to regular face-to-face meetings. Female gender and predominantly private practice favoured this opinion. DISCUSSION: The COVID-19 pandemic has forced the cancellation of most scientific gatherings. This has been seen by some authors as an excellent opportunity, encouraging medical societies and organisations to lead the change to virtual meetings. Although confinement did not allow real contact, our online meeting showed it was possible to ensure interaction and participation between attendees, moderators and speakers. Dermatologists enjoyed some dermatologic science, even despite the extraordinary circumstances disrupting their daily clinical practice. Most of them felt they were participating in something new and compelling that many felt superior to traditional meetings.
